Education plays an important part in Zigou-dam Dance Company's activities enabling people from neophytes to professionals, from young children to adults to share the experience of our superbly trained artistes. The company offers a range of education support services and activities all year round:

• Curriculum teaching whole classes in schools and colleges
• Taylor made workshops for professional Dancers and dancers in training
• Evening dance and/or drumming classes
• Dance training for school teachers and group leaders
• Master classes and community educational project work, etc.

We are currently putting in place a program of workshops for disabled and those working with people with disabilities.

Workshop Elements

Zigou Dam offers the following:

OPTION # 1
Workshop title: HIP HOP, RnB and Street dance

Description: Tracing the traditional retention into modern Hip Hop.

Duration: One and a half to Two hours. The workshop can be adapted to accommodate from 10 years old upwards.

Session Summary

Element 1: Warm Up - A thorough warm up accompanied by CD

Element 2: Introduction to Hip Hop music and dance routine led by Company dance teacher.

Element 3: Students learn the Hip Hop routine.

Element 4: Students develop and expand the routine introducing their creativity and moves.

Element 5: The students perform their development routine to peers etc.

Element 6: Warm Down.
